Work started to prepare for excavation of the new Influent Pump Station with the installation of sheet piles.
With the slab and wall concrete completed for the Oxidation Ditches completed, work started to finish up the inlet structure to those tanks.
The structure which will take the flow from the Oxidation Ditches and evenly distribute it to the 3 new secondary clarifiers was started as well.
Flow from the new secondary clarifiers will be conveyed to a Flow Equalization (EQ) Basin in a new 30 inch pipe made of high density polyethylene (HDPE).
The fused segments of the HDPE line are pulled into the trench.
The flow will be pumped from the EQ Basin through the distribution structure to clothe media filters.
After the water is filtered, it'll be disinfected as it passes through the new Ultraviolet Disinfection channels.
In addition to all the work on the liquid side of the treatment plant, work continued on the new solids handling Dissolved Air Floatation Thickeners.
The extensive electrical system continued to take shape with work at the new Electrical Building. Even though the project has approximately 19 months of construction remaining, it's never too early to start planning for commissioning the new facilities. A general meeting was held for City of Lompoc Wastewater, construction and construction management staffs to develop tactics for placing the plant in service while still meeting the discharge requirements.
