Serious excavation work began in February for the structure of the new Influent Pump Station. This new pump station will tie into the existing influent structure with 4 new vertical shaft solids pumping pumps.
As with many of the excavations at the site, an unexpected section of abandoned pipeline was discovered and removed.
Work is nearing completion on the grit treatment units which will take the flow of wastewater from the Influent Pump Station and remove the heavier, untreatable material before the flow goes to the new Oxidation Ditches.
The inlet structure to the Ditches was formed up and poured.
The walls of the new Dissolved Air Floatation Thickeners have been formed and poured.
Much yard piping was installed including this new secondary effluent line connecting up to the discharge structure of one of the 3 secondary tanks
At the new Filter/Ultraviolet building, crews poured footings and stem walls and began laying out electrical conduit penetrations through floor slabs.
The upgraded plant will be powered during utility power failures by an on-site self contained diesel powered emergency engine/generator. Demolition work started for the excavation work for the genset's foundation. Finally, the construction contractor and City of Lompoc staff worked together to make repairs to the old, original plant underground utilities which are subject to breaking with all of the heavy construction activities. |
